  • Gently spot clean Maryam’s white lace using a cool, barely damp cloth. Dab around the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus image and Jerusalem lettering rather than rubbing the embroidery.
  • Keep pins away from the devotional image and lettering. Support the stitched area when lifting the veil so the surrounding lace is not stretched.
  • If damp, press lightly between clean towels and air-dry flat in the shade. Do not soak, bleach, machine wash, tumble dry or iron directly on the embroidery.
  • Remove all pins and loosely fold the completely dry veil around its central image. Store away from coloured items that could mark the white lace.
